Good morning everyone,
First, I just wanted to say thank you so much for emailing or calling me to let me know that you worked the Apollo 11 launch! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading every email that all of you have sent to me, sharing your experiences and thoughts from that day. What an amazing time in our country’s history and all of you were part of it!! I feel so honored to be communicating with all of you.
Second, I am coordinating an event for the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch for the Launch Team on July 16, 2019. As all of you know already, the Apollo 11 launch team was more than just those that were sitting in Firing Room 1, the team was large and reached across the center. All of you did your part in making the launch happen. I also want to mention, this is a different event than the July 14 event. I received a few emails asking about the July 14th event so I just wanted to let you know that I am not coordinating that event.
I am still working on the details for this event. However, below is what the plan looks like, as of today. I will be sending more detailed information out as soon as I have it but I wanted to get the date of this event on your calendars.
