Gregory R. Clements, Senior Advisor for Strategic Planning in the Engineering Directorate

Gregory R. (Greg) Clements is the Senior Advisor for Strategic Planning in the Engineering Directorate at the John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. He is responsible for strategic planning, managing the engineering workforce skills portfolio, resolving inter-organizational strategic issues, and serving as an advisor and mentor for leadership and organizational development.

Clements was born in Bayshore, New York, and grew up in Spring Hill, Florida, where he graduated from Springstead High School in 1981. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1986. He also earned a master’s in engineering management from Florida Tech in 1990. He lives in Mims, Florida, with his wife, Julie, and three sons.

Clements began his career at KSC in 1985. After spending several years as an electrical design engineer focused upon ground-based command and control systems, Clements served as the project manager for the Advanced Technology Development Center project charted with the development of a large-scale proving ground for Spaceport and Range technologies. He has served in various personnel management positions since 2002 in three NASA organizations. Recently, Clements led an Agency-wide team to develop a long-range “Ground and Launch Systems Processing” technology roadmap to help the National Research Council chart a comprehensive strategy for investment in technology development to enable enhance future access to space for the nation.

Clements has received numerous honors including an Outstanding Leadership Medal, two Certificates of Commendation, four Certificates of Appreciation, Acquisition Improvement Award, Superior Achievement Award, Equal Opportunity Award for Managers, several Group Achievement Awards, and Space Flight Awareness Honoree. He has also participated in several leadership development programs including the Disney Institute’s training in People Management and the Agency’s Management Education Program.
